Best Low Budget Filmmaking Equipment

Hello Filmmakers! I'm hear to answer your filmmaking questions in the first of many Filmmaking Q&A videos! This month's focus is on the best low budget filmmaking equipment.

First up, Dina asks "What do you use for lighting?" Great question! I'm a huge Neewer fan girl so I love the Neewer Upgraded 660 LED lights. These lights are really durable because they are made of lightweight aluminum. Plus my favorite feature is the LED panel on the back that allows you to dial in your color tempter exactly! Plus there's a dimming knob that allows you to control the light's brightness.

Second up, Uyi asks "What camera do you use?" Well Uyi, I'm glad you asked because I just upgraded to the new Panasonic GH5 camera and I'm absolutely loving it! In fact this video was shot on it. Some of my favorite features of this camera are that it shoots 4K video and has some really impressive in-body stabilization. It's actually great for vlogging because of it! To top it all off, it also has dual memory card slots. This allows you to either automatically record to the second memory card once the first fills up, or you can set it to record to both cards at the same time so you can shoot worry free and know your footage is backed up.

And finally, Uyi comes in with our last question "What microphones do you use?" Once again, great question! I use a Rode NTG3 boom mic on a c-stand with a boom buddy and a boom pole. This way I can boom myself without need the assistance of an audio person. The Rode NTG3 is a great middle of the rode mic that is great low budget sound equipment for low budget filmmaking. It's not the top end but it's not cheap either, but still produces high quality audio.
