Osmo Action Camera - The Best Vacation Camera!

So as a filmmaker and a YouTuber, it might surprise you to know that when I go on vacation, the last thing I want to do is pack up all my heavy, fancy camera equipment and take it with me. I just hate having to babysit a camera the whole time and worry about something happening to it, but I still want to capture fun shots of my trip. So last year, when I went to Hawaii, I decided to get the Osmo Action Camera and test it out.

I fell in love with the Osmo Action Camera while on vacation. It's super lightweight and small, so it's easy to just throw in a bag and take it everywhere with you. It's an action sport camera, so it's 100% waterproof up to 11 meters without the need for an underwater case. So you don't have to worry about it getting wet at all.

It also shoots still photos and video, so you can do both while you're out and about. And it shoots 720 all the way up to 4K from 24 frames per second, up to 240 frames per second. And it also has 4K HDR at 30 frames per second. But my favorite part about this camera is that you can switch it to manual mode and have full control over your ISO and your shutter, as well as what resolution you want and your frame rate.

And another awesome feature is the fact that this camera has two screens. There's a back screen and a front screen, and you can switch between them by just double tapping on the back screen with two fingers.

Now another game changing feature that the Osmo camera has is this thing rocksteady and rocksteady is basically an electronic image stabilization, but man, guys, it's so good. Like really good. It blew me away how good it is at stabilizing shots with this camera in camera using software. I mean, it shouldn't be this good. Normally when you have stabilization that's based on software and not actual like gyroscopes in your lenses or camera, it's usually not the best, but this guy, this rocksteady feature is amazing. So you can just swipe up to get to that and you turn on rocksteady, which is only available for certain settings, I think, but it makes such a difference. I found shots looked like they were shot on a jib arm or a gimbal when I was using it and shooting handheld.

Now some awesome bonus features with this camera is that it has voice commands. So you can actually tell it to record and stop recording and be completely hands-free, which again would be super handy if you're vlogging and you have it out here and you want to start recording right away without having to clunkily reach up.

Now, as I said earlier about the Osmo Action Camera, it is waterproof, but I found that sometimes while shooting in or around water, the lens would fog up a bit. And so just make sure that you're checking the lens periodically and wiping it off to make sure that your Osmo Action Camera lens, isn't all fogged up.

And another cool bonus feature about this camera is that because it's a GoPro competitor, the Osmo action camera accessories actually work with all of the GoPro stuff.

So you should note that this, of course isn't the best low-light camera. So you want to make sure that you're shooting in full daylight. But again, that's why I think it makes a really great vacation camera because you're probably outside during your vacation, unless you're, I don't know, vacationing in a cave.

Another cool feature of the Osmo action camera is that DJI actually made an app that you can use to connect to the camera. So you can connect to your camera and then you have a live feed from your camera and you can even tap to record remotely.

I mean, seriously guys, this guy is the full package. If you want a vacation camera without all the fuss of bringing heavy cameras and lenses, then this is the guy for you. It blew me away and I had so much fun in Hawaii with it!
